1911 Old Town Canoe - Charles River Model, AA Grade - Serial # 14009.White Cedar planking, Mahogany gunwales, thwarts, seats. List price $2500.Call just - 518 six 5 1 six 8 4 six. It truly is lovely, it was brought back by an expert - see the condition details which I have actually written below. This is my individual canoe, and I am only selling it since I more regularly utilize a small fishing boat on the close-by lakes. I in fact dislike to part with it - but it needs to go to somebody who will certainly use it even more than I do. This is a gorgeous Old Town Canoe - 16 foot AA grade Charles River model. Made in Old Town Maine in 1910 & 1911 (yes it takes that long to make a good canoe). It has white cedar planking and mahogany decks, gunwales, and seats. It bares the Old Town identification number 14009 (photo revealed). The initial construction order is revealed (copy consisted of with sale). It was delivered to Williamsport PA on March 30th 1911. It was constantly saved inside in dry storage, never left outdoors. Ask any concerns including for even more images. Condition:. General condition is great. The canoe was restored by Jack (John) "the Canoe guy" McGreevy, of Cato NY. If you google him you will discover he's among the very best. It had a couple of ribs, the aft stem, thwarts and minor other parts replaced. I assisted Jack cover it in his proprietary canvas & filler and finished the painting (after the filler cured) & varnishing here in the Adirondacks. The pictures are of it today as I compose this listing. The only defects I can see are: 1) a slight crack in the outer gunwale - Jack said it was irrelevant; 2) a filled drill hole near the rear seat, also unimportant; 3) some checking/cracking and scratches in the paint due to it being 15 years old, the keel of course has numerous spots that the paint has used off; and 4) if this counts, there was an Adirondacks decal on the bow deck that was eliminated - the varnish there is sound however there was one layer over the decal. To make it showroom quality it would require a wet sanding / repainting, and the gunwales/decks re-varnished. It is very nice and completely practical as is. The interior varnish is exceptional. The paint was preserved annual with wax and the interior varnish treated with a beeswax based wood polish every year. I think the hardware on the stern deck is initial, the bow deck typically has a rope with a knot on either side holding it in through the hole received the photo.
