GUILLEMOT is a labour of love – her last two owners have carefully brought her back to life substantially restoring her to a high level of thorough and painstaking workmanship, combined with great attention to detail and use of the best possible materials. The end result is a stunning vessel above and below the waterline, inside and out. Modern comforts and equipment have been incorporated into the traditional accommodation without spoiling her unique ambience. Most recently she has had new additions including her deck replaced, new caulking done in the traditional way, bright work re-varnished, engines fully serviced, new life raft, tender and bathing platform. Over the last few years GUILLEMOT has been substantially refitted by Traditional Shipwrights of Poole; the principal works summarised as 2011 - Re-caulked below waterline with oakum and red lead putty - Re-clad transom with Iroko and epoxy sheath - Fitted new stainless steel push pit, davits and bathing platform - Stripped all bright work and re varnished 2012 - New life raft and stowage on deck - New fender stowage on deck - New tender and outboard 2013 / 2014 - New laminated deck beams - New laminated beam shelf - New teak foredeck - Hull anti fouled - Full electrical check and repairs, engines and electrics - New tachometers This vessel was renamed KATHLEEN for a period following one phase of restoration by a former owner. Her current owner recently renamed her as she was originally: GUILLEMOT. Brookes, renowned for vessels of this type, built her of the best materials of the day and where restored comparable materials have been used. - Carvel hull of 7/8th finished pitch pine planking and gunwales - Copper and bronze fastened over American elm timber frames 1 ¼ x 1 inch 6 inches apart - English oak keel, hog, stem, apron and floors - Shallow steel capped oak bilge keels - Epoxy coated steel rudder and stock, wheel and quadrant operated - Bronze propeller shaft supporting A brackets.
