2000 Johnson DaySailer The DaySailer is the original classic spacious family boat that created the entire genre. It is renowned for its comfortable cockpit, handsome appearance, and ease of handling. The DaySailer is a tremendously versatile boat. From its inception, it was designed for family comfort and ease of handling. The main feature of the boat is the enormous cockpit with proper backrests. Unlike most boats of this size, the thoughtful design allows you to sit in the cockpit for added safety. Up to six people can comfortably sit in the cockpit, and there is plenty of protected storage space in the cuddy, which is accessed through a proper hatch. Uffa Fox designed the forgiving stable hull with a deep V-shaped bow to cut through waves, and a flat run aft for off-wind performance. The DaySailer has a centerboard to make trailering easy, and to access shallower waters for added sailing fun. The hull shape has tremendous form stability. Just above the waterline, the boat becomes quite beamy. As soon as the DaySailer heels over, the boat becomes much wider in the water, and thus becomes more stable than even most keelboats. The combination results in a very seaworthy craft that is suitable for use on any body of water from the open ocean to a small lake. Over 13,000 DaySailers have been built, and are used for wide-ranging activities such as picnicking, daysailing, overnight cruises, and racing. Owner satisfaction led to the formation of the DaySailer Class Association which organizes fun events all over the country for DaySailer owners and their families. At 17 feet and only 500 lbs., the DaySailer can be towed by any car and its simple rigging permits a short 10 minute setup time from trailer to water.
