This is the second canoe in the series. I call it "Loon" More pictures are available. Retired watchmaker with a passion for wood working, now building these beautiful cedar strip canoes. The construction follows the strip building techniques of today and with certain refinements she weighs in at 60 lbs. This canoe has a lake style hull. It has a keel (about 3/4 inch deep) running fore to aft and a relatively flat bottom. These modifications allow better tracking on the open water. The canoe is then covered, inside and out, with fiber glass and epoxy resin according to current standards. Hull: western cedar and spanish cedar Gunwales: ash Yoke: royal cedar Decks: mixed Handmade caned seats Here are the specifications: LOA: 17.5 feet LWL: 15.5 feet BEAM: 32 inches FREE BOARD: 10 inches WEIGHT: 60 pounds HULL STYLE: keel running fore to aft, lake style
