Description:

Welcome to my listing, offering a 16 foot Rocket ChrisCraft runabout in california on the coast town of Monterey Peninsula located a few blocks from the historic Canary row and boat launch. For those interested in a wonderful project that would be your dream boat for fresh water Lake Tahoe events and fun boating. This boat at one time was inside of the Tahoe Museum on display after it was beautifully restored from the ground up. I have a picture book of the painstaking restoration from beginning to end.Unfortunately the owner past away and the boat was put into a storage yard and left unattended for many years. The prior owner was a navy machanic in world war 2 and his love for this boat is evident through this notes and journal. Along with photographs from beginning to present day.I purchased the boat after it was last registered in 2007 and the tags never put on , it was many years ago with hi hopes of bringing her back to the Tahoe showroom condition.I removed all the bits and pieces and stored them from harms way and stripped all the varnish off and then with some time started to remove the top boards and had plans to replace them. This is where the project took a slow turn away from progress and about 15 years had past and I think it’s time to let some one else enjoy the project and finish it.The boat is 99% all there and I spent a lot of time dreaming but never was able to get is worthy of starting the engine. The gas tank has old gas in it and I supose the carb needs a good cleaning and a new battery. The engine was overhauled by the prior owner and the head was taken off and freshened up and replaced. The boat when I got it had no keys but I did manage to buy a new key ignition and switch but never installed it.As you can see all the little bits and pieces all accounted for on the engine and were restored and were in tip top running order. When I got it the boat had this trailer and this trailer fits it very good. The prop was removed for the propeller to load it on the boat because the trailer rear crossmember was in the way. I have all the pieces to reassemble propeller and driveshaft. You could cut the rear crossmember on the trailer to allough easy loading and unloading with a saw very easily.I did not get that far to unloading it.The under side is water worthy and most of the planks were replaced during the restoration and were done very well by a professional craftsman and I have pictures of this and the boat was turned upside down and the engine removed during the process of restoration. The engine is the original engine to the boat and is identified by engine number and original hull number is attatched to the interior wall. The trailer will need four new tires and rims to transport it but I can arrange to purchase these; if you would like, and install them for you. One last bit of hope I can do for the next journey to its new home. The upside of this project boat is that it does fit into a normal garage .It’s small enough with trailer to fit most 24x 20’ garages.A craftsman will need some mahogany planks to reskin the top portion on the top of the boat. Possibly restore what is there but I think much easier to just replace. The interior seating ; both front and rear I had restored with marine grade Mercedes Leather and are in new condition and look beutiful. Most of the chrome trim is original and in very nice condition. The steering wheel has cracked but could be replaced or filled in and repainted. The front windshields I purchased new and are in excellent condition. I have several sets of windshield post and I preferred the earlier style as in the picture.some are worth a fortune and are new old stock.I have restored the rear light pole and original glass globe is a new old stock piece. The original flag is authentic and the spot light was purchased as a new old stock item and never used. The Johnson kicker motor is original and in fine working order and is a very nice vintage motor . The anchor I purchased along the way and is a perfect size for the boat.I have both original fire extinguishers and mounting brackets intact.many other bits and pieces and a hand held spot lamp also included. I have a clear california title in hand and I can give it to you along with the trailer title. Please feel free to ask me any questions as I am sure I left some things not mentioned but I have many pictures I can send you for clarity as I can only 40 in the listing.Starting bid is set at $9.95 , and I have set a very reasonable reserve and I can tell you that I have $20,000 invested but it has to be sold. It could be worth as much as the time and effort you do on the finishing touchesFeel free to make me an offer if bidding isn’t your style of purchase.I suspect it could be worth a whole lot more than I have invested but only the next owner willingly will enjoy the future value. Thanks for your interest and let the highest bid win the chance of a life time. Please see all the pictures and know the value is here in pieces alone. Trailer is strong and sturdy and the boat both are not currently registered at this time.Have title in hand. And all back registrations since it was purchased from the original owner.Best of luck and happy motoring.Sincerely steve
