The DAVID N was built as a commercial tug and used for packing salmon in Bristol Bay. In 1982, it was purchased and modified to be a gill netter to fish in Alaska by the same owner who modified the vessel to a pleasure boat in 1995 (same ownership from 1982 to 2014). Now the DAVID N enjoys the simple life as a pleasure vessel, is super comfortable, safe, reliable and truly a salty sight to see navigating the waterways or just resting at dockside! Great looking tug, with a Nordic Tug FRP superstructure which was lengthened, raised and modified. Many modern updates throughout! Powered by a single 6 cylinder D342 Caterpillar NA diesel inboard (circa 1963), 215hp, known for its torque, with a low idle speed of 450 rpm, will cruise at 8 knots at 750 rpm, just 2 gph at 8 knots. Keel cooler, dry exhaust, 2.48:1 reduction gear. Built by Mojean & Ericson in Tacoma, Washington.
