She’s powered by a very strong and clean, 90 horsepower Mercury two stroke with oil injection.If your looking for a Montauk with a bunch of pretty teak wood trim to maintain and fiddle with year after year -you won’t find it here!By the time 1998 rolled around, all that high maintenance wood had been swapped out for more durable, modern, hose it off and go materials -the RPS (reversible pilot’s seat) back is now molded fiberglass, the anchor cover is also fiberglass with Boston Whaler’s non-skid diamond pattern surface, and the console doors are now made of a thick acrylic with an aluminum frame adding to the new, more contemporary look.Some history…Boston Whaler first tested the waters on the “no teak” concept with the 1991 30th Anniversary Edition Montauk, and carried it over in ’92 and ’93 with the well received “SE” edition.By 1994 the Montauk’s fiberglass interior was standard, and the “Teak Package” optional.The American boat buyer was no longer interested in the classic wood look, or the maintenance that came with it.Very few Montauks were ordered with teak after the 1995 model year.The classic 13, 15 and 17s had been trending in the same direction for years with the popularity of the all glass interior GLS model.Now, back to our boat…In 1998 there were two other notable updates made to the Classic 17 Montauk -Gone is the thin, three piece rub rail set which cracks easily, is a pain in the @$$ to replace and fails to protect the boats rear corners from impact.For the first time Boston Whaler adds a modern, one piece, heavy duty rub rail to the Montauk- protecting the entire boat, including the transom corners!Also, the bow rail is now 100% welded, no more T-fittings, set screws, rivets or rattles!Anyway, our ’98 is pretty sweet, she got an appointment coming up with our marine mechanic, followed of course by sea trials - more pics soon, or by request.She’s priced with trailer @ 16,500.Also included - full cover, Mills Console Cover and Mills RPS Cover!Give us a call if this is what you’ve been looking for!York County Marine is a 100% online operation, all of our boats are professionally delivered, anywhere in the United States with international shipping possible.All York County Marine boats are checked over by a marine mechanic prior to professional delivery.All York County Marine boats are thoroughly sea trialed prior to professional delivery.YCM a different kind of boat dealer
